HyperX Alloy Origins Core — Best Mechanical Keyboard Under $50
Price on Amazon
Most sub-$50 mechanical keyboards feel like a compromise. This one mostly just feels like a keyboard, which at this price is the whole achievement.
Best for: First-time mechanical buyers, second setups, and anyone who wants a solid TKL without spending enthusiast money.
Skip it if: People who want to mod, lube or swap switches — it isn’t hot-swap. If you think you’ll tinker, spend more once instead.
We don’t sell this — the button takes you to the retailer. It may be an affiliate link, at no extra cost to you.

Who it's for
First-time mechanical buyers, second setups, and anyone who wants a solid TKL without spending enthusiast money.
Who should skip it
People who want to mod, lube or swap switches — it isn't hot-swap. If you think you'll tinker, spend more once instead.
What actually matters
- Aluminium body at a price where everything else is flexing plastic.
- TKL layout frees real mouse room versus a full-size board.
- Solid stabilisers — the usual first thing to feel cheap, and it doesn't.
- Simple, durable — no software required to just work.
The verdict
The honest budget answer. It won't excite an enthusiast, and it will comfortably outlast three gaming-brand membrane boards.
Pair it with a soft surface and it sounds like a much more expensive keyboard. Browse our desk mats →
