Notion

Price on their site

Most people don’t need another app. They need to stop keeping their life in six of them.

Best for: Anyone juggling notes in one place, tasks in another and project plans in a third. Especially good for solo developers, students and creators who need structure without a project-management committee.

Skip it if: Teams that need hard deadline tracking and dependencies — a dedicated PM tool will serve you better. Also anyone who finds a blank page paralysing.

Who it's for

Anyone juggling notes in one place, tasks in another and project plans in a third. Especially good for solo developers, students and creators who need structure without a project-management committee.

Who should skip it

Teams that need hard deadline tracking and dependencies — a dedicated PM tool will serve you better. Also anyone who finds a blank page paralysing.

What actually matters

  • Databases that look like pages — structure without a spreadsheet.
  • Templates get you past the blank-page problem in minutes.
  • Everything links, so notes connect to tasks connect to projects.
  • Free tier is genuinely usable for one person.

The verdict

The tidy-desk equivalent for your digital life. Start with one template rather than trying to rebuild your whole system on day one.

A clear system and a clear desk are the same idea applied twice. Browse our desk mats →

Affiliate disclosure: if you buy through our links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. We only list gear we would put on our own desk, and we never accept payment for placement.
